thetao and so units

I have seen that thetao units are K while so units are g kg-1 in the grib files.

Could you confirm that thetao is in fact thetao and not other variable like bigthetao?

As so units are g kg-1 and not 0.001 this means that so is the absolute salinity and not practical salinity?
