Draft: log-axis and param

Hi @abatalla,

I am using this merge request as a draft because I don't want to lose these modifications before the maintenance.

I think the only relevant modification compared to you branch is that I am working on a new parameter logxaxis to allow setting the x-axis as logarithmic. However, this is still wip.
